Create/Edit Attribute Dimension: Determines

Specifies one or more attributes the values of which are determined by the values of the key attribute of a level.

The determines property of an attribute level specifies that the determined attributes be implicitly included in a hierarchy that uses the level. This can affect the number of rows returned by a hierarchy and controls whether certain attributes return data for certain rows. Determined attributes can simplify the SQL that is generated when an analytic view is queried.

To automatically generate the determines properties:

If no determines properties exist, you can automatically generate them by clicking Generate, which generates determines properties based on the order of the levels on the Levels page.

To add a determined attribute to a level:

1. Click the icon.

2. Click the new row in the Level column.

3. Select the level to which to add the determined attribute.

4. Click the corresponding row of the Determines column.

5. Select the attribute to be determined by the key attribute of the level.

To remove a determined attribute from a level:

1. Select the row to remove.

2. Click the icon.
